Russia’s nuclear agency has said it is prepared to withdraw all its personnel from the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran “if necessary,” amid rising regional tensions, according to a statement reported by TASS and Reuters.
Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev warned that a strike on the facility could have catastrophic consequences and that ensuring staff safety is a priority.
The Bushehr plant, Iran’s only operational nuclear power station built with Russian help, employs hundreds of Russian specialists who could be evacuated under contingency plans.
