Russia Launches Iranian Satellite into Orbit

Russia has successfully placed Iran’s Nahid-2 communications satellite into orbit using a Soyuz rocket launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The Iranian state news agency confirmed the launch, noting the satellite will operate at an altitude of around 500 km for two years.

The mission also deployed multiple Russian satellites, including two Ionosfera-M Earth observation systems and 17 smaller payloads.

This marks the latest step in deepening space cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Western analysts have raised concerns that Iran’s space programme could support its ballistic missile capabilities, a claim Tehran denies.
