The House of Representatives narrowly approved President Trump’s sweeping tax-and-spending package – dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill” – by a 218–214 vote, sending the bill to his desk ahead of a July 4 signing deadline.
The nearly 900-page legislation solidifies 2017 tax cuts, makes tip and overtime income tax-free, boosts funding for border security and defence, and increases the national debt by roughly $3.3 trillion.
It also imposes stricter Medicaid work requirements and trims food-aid programs.
The White House plans a celebratory July 4 signing ceremony to mark one of Trump’s biggest legislative wins of his second term.
