Germany’s Interior Minister has announced new legislation giving police the authority to shoot down drones that pose a security threat.
The proposal follows a surge in drone-related incidents, including disruptions at Munich Airport.
The draft law will allow police to use counter-drone technology such as signal jamming, GPS interference and electromagnetic pulses.
A national drone defence centre will also be established to coordinate responses to suspicious aerial activity.
Officials say the move aims to protect critical infrastructure and public events as concerns grow over drones being used for espionage, smuggling and potential terror attacks.
