Greater Manchester Police say a 28-year-old Afghan national, Sultani Bakatash, has been charged with raping two 14-year-old girls in a flat in Bolton over the weekend.
This arrest follows an investigation triggered by reports from the victims and a swift police response.
Bakatash remains in custody while prosecutors prepare charges ahead of a court hearing.
Police emphasised the alleged attack has shocked the local community and offered support to the victims.
