Abbas Araghchi has claimed that Iran’s nationwide protests were deliberately turned violent to create a pretext for military intervention by the United States.
Speaking to state media, Araghchi accused foreign actors of exploiting public unrest and escalating tensions to undermine Iran’s sovereignty.
He denied that the demonstrations reflected genuine domestic opposition, instead framing them as part of a broader pressure campaign against Tehran.
The comments come as protests continue across multiple cities and the regime faces growing international scrutiny over its use of force against demonstrators.
