North Korean Soldiers Briefly Cross Border; South Korea Fires Warning Shots

Earlier today, approximately ten North Korean soldiers crossed the Military Demarcation Line into the eastern section of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) around 5 p.m. local time.

In response, South Korean forces issued warning broadcasts and fired warning shots, prompting the North Korean troops to retreat without further incident.

No casualties were reported, and the North did not return fire.

The motive behind the intrusion remains unclear, though similar incidents have occurred in the past without escalation.

The DMZ continues to be one of the world’s most heavily fortified borders.
