Polish president authorises NATO troop deployment after Russian drone incursion

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has approved the stationing of NATO troops in Poland under Operation “Eastern Sentry,” according to the National Security Bureau.

The mission, announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on September 12, is designed to strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank amid rising tensions.

Forces from the UK, Germany, Denmark, and France will take part in the deployment.

The move follows the September 10 incident in which Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace during strikes on Ukraine.

Officials say the operation demonstrates NATO’s commitment to defending member states from potential Russian provocations.
