Three members of Italy’s Carabinieri were killed and at least thirteen others wounded when a farmhouse exploded during a forced eviction in Castel d’Azzano, near Verona.
Authorities say the house was rigged with gas and the blast was triggered when officers forced entry.
Two siblings, a brother and sister in their 60s, have been arrested at the scene, while a second brother was detained later; one person remains at large.
Italian President Mattarella expressed “dismay and deep sorrow” and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
