A truck burst into flames today near the Hôtel de Matignon in central Paris, causing an explosion outside the residence of France’s prime minister.
Witness reports and local media say the incident occurred during a planned meeting between PM Lecornu and centrist politicians.
Officials say gas cylinders were found in the vehicle, though firefighters later clarified that the explosion sound came from small aerosol cans, not a gas detonation.
The van belonged to a public lighting firm and was apparently used in electrical diagnostics when it caught fire.
No injuries have been reported.
