Donald Trump claimed that Cambodia and Thailand have resumed fighting along their disputed border and said he would “make a phone call” to stop the conflict.
At least 12 people have been killed and thousands have fled their homes as artillery fire and ground clashes spread across several checkpoints.
Thai forces launched strikes in response to what they described as Cambodian incursions, while Phnom Penh accused Bangkok of aggression.
The renewed violence follows the collapse of a previous ceasefire.
Trump insists regional leaders still respect his authority and believes direct pressure from Washington could halt the escalation before it triggers a wider crisis.
