Vanessa Brown, a 50-year-old history teacher from Cobham, Surrey, was arrested on 26 March after confiscating her daughters’ iPads to encourage their focus on schoolwork.
A man in his 40s reported the devices as stolen, leading police to track them to Brown’s mother’s home.
Despite being the children’s legal guardian, Brown was detained for over seven hours, fingerprinted, and initially barred from contacting her children under bail conditions.
The incident, which included police questioning her elderly mother, has sparked outrage.
Surrey Police later confirmed Brown had the right to discipline her children.
