US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz visited Israel’s northern border with Lebanon and said Washington is intensifying efforts to keep Hezbollah weakened.
Waltz said the strategy focuses on maximum pressure on Iran, stronger support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, and reducing the UN peacekeeping mission in the south so Hezbollah can no longer exploit international forces as cover for its operations.
He described Hezbollah as the main destabilising force in the region and insisted the United States will work with Israel to prevent further escalation while ensuring Iran’s proxies lose both territory and influence along the frontier.
