US Marines Board Ship Trying To Break Iran Blockade

US Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded the M/V Blue Star III in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, intercepting a commercial vessel suspected of attempting to sail to an Iranian port in violation of the US naval blockade.

The seizure underlines that the choke on Iranian oil exports remains in full force despite Tehran’s weekend offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Trump rejected as inadequate.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg on Monday seeking political backing, while Russia’s leader claimed he had received a personal message from Iran’s reclusive new supreme leader.
