Fiera del Levante bars Israel from September trade fair in Bari

Organisers of Fiera del Levante, one of Italy’s leading international trade exhibitions scheduled for September 13 to 21 in Bari, have confirmed that Israel will not be invited.

The decision followed a request from Bari Mayor Vito Leccese, who argued that Israel should be excluded from institutional and economic participation due to the war in Gaza.

Nuova Fiera del Levante, which runs the event, said the move reflects shared ethical and political concerns, condemning what it described as atrocities in Gaza.

The fair also voiced support for a campaign to nominate Gaza’s children for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
