Israel Revokes Residency Permits of Australian Representatives over Palestine Recognition Dispute

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has revoked the residency permits of Australian representatives to the Palestinian Authority.

He also instructed the Israeli embassy in Canberra to carefully review all official Australian visa requests to enter Israel.

Saar said the move was in response to Australia’s decision to recognise a Palestinian state and to the refusal of entry visas for several Israeli figures, including former Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and MK Simcha Rothman.

The decision highlights growing diplomatic tensions between the two countries over Middle East policy and reciprocal travel restrictions.
