Turkey has introduced a new maritime policy that bans all ships connected to Israel from docking at Turkish ports.
The restrictions apply to vessels flying the Israeli flag as well as those owned or operated by Israeli companies.
The first ship affected was a ZIM vessel that was denied entry to Istanbul and rerouted to Piraeus in Greece.
Turkish authorities have also barred Turkish-flagged vessels from calling at Israeli ports and now require written assurances from shipping agents that cargo and ownership are unconnected to Israel.
The move marks a sharp escalation in Ankara’s stance toward Israel.
