Australia confronts Israel at UN and demands accountability for Gaza

At the United Nations Palestine conference, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese directly challenged Israel to “accept your share of responsibility” for the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

He cited tens of thousands of civilian deaths, the killings of aid workers and journalists, and the blockade that has left children starving.

Albanese also condemned illegal West Bank settlements, settler violence, and annexation threats, warning that these policies are destroying the two-state solution.

Canberra has now formally recognised Palestine, joining a growing wave of states breaking with the U.S. position.

Albanese framed the move as a moral duty, not just a diplomatic gesture.
