Comey indicted on charges of lying to Congress and obstruction

Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation.

Prosecutors allege Comey made false statements during his 2020 testimony, including claims about authorising an FBI employee to act as an anonymous source.

The Justice Department said the case reflects its commitment to accountability, with Attorney General Pam Bondi declaring that “no one is above the law.”

The indictment comes after years of pressure from President Trump and his allies, who argued that Comey had long evaded accountability, framing the case as a necessary step to restore integrity at the Department of Justice.
