Habba’s Court-Forced Resignation

Alina Habba, President Trump’s former personal lawyer and controversial acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, announced her resignation Monday after a federal appeals court upheld rulings that her appointment violated federal law.

Appointed interim in March 2025 without prosecutorial experience, Habba’s tenure sparked chaos: judges halted cases, challengers cited the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, and the Third Circuit disqualified her last week.

Defiant Habba called it no “surrender,” vowing to fight on as senior advisor to AG Pam Bondi, who blasted the “flawed” decision and eyes reversal.

Critics hail it as a check on loyalist overreach in DOJ posts.
