UK Police Crack Down on Pro Palestine Protests

UK police forces are stepping up enforcement at pro Palestine demonstrations, citing a growing threat to Jewish communities following recent attacks in Australia and Manchester.

The Met and Greater Manchester Police say they will “recalibrate to be more assertive” at upcoming marches and will intervene when chants or signs such as “globalise the intifada” appear, arguing they can cross into incitement or glorification of terrorism.

Senior officers say the shift reflects intelligence about rising community tensions and the need to prevent further escalation.

Organisers warn the move risks criminalising political speech, but police insist public safety is the priority.
