U.S. And Iran Both Claim Victory

Iran and the US both claimed victory the moment the ceasefire was announced, exposing a significant gap over the terms.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said it had forced the US to accept its 10-point framework and declared “nearly all the objectives of the war have been achieved.”

Trump told AFP it was “total and complete victory” for the US.

Within hours of the announcement, attacks were reported in Iran and Gulf Arab countries, throwing the fragility of the truce into immediate doubt.

JD Vance, speaking in Budapest, called it a “fragile truce” and warned that elements within Iran were “lying about even the fragile truce itself.”

Iran’s Farsi version of the ceasefire plan included the phrase “acceptance of enrichment” for its nuclear programme – a phrase absent from the English version shared with journalists.
