More than 200 Afghans have appealed directly to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, urging faster relocation to Germany.
In a letter, 210 individuals complained they were deported from Pakistan back to Afghanistan and are now sheltering in a “safe house” run by the German Society for International Cooperation in Kabul.
According to Welt, a group of 45 Afghans with entry permits arrived in Germany on Monday.
The Federal Foreign Office estimates that about 2,300 Afghans are still awaiting relocation, with 2,100 in Pakistan and the rest in Afghanistan.
Berlin recently confirmed it would continue admitting eligible Afghans who fled to Pakistan.
