Border Firestorm as Cambodia Accuses Thailand of Shooting Civilians

Cambodia’s defence ministry says Thai troops opened fire on unarmed villagers near Prey Chan in Banteay Meanchey province, injuring five civilians.

The Cambodia–Thailand frontier remains a tense grey zone of disputed farmland and smuggling routes, last seeing major violence in 2011.

Thailand has denied the claims, calling them false and inflammatory, insisting its forces did not engage civilians.

Hospitals in Cambodia report multiple gunshot wounds consistent with rifle fire.

Both governments are now trading accusations as officials rush to prevent the incident from sparking a wider border confrontation.
