Canada has announced it will recognise a Palestinian state if key conditions are met ahead of the UN General Assembly in September.
Prime Minister Mark Carney outlined the requirements: the Palestinian Authority must undergo major reforms, hold democratic elections in 2026 without Hamas involvement, commit to demilitarisation, and ensure the release of all remaining hostages.
The move follows similar declarations by France and the UK, signalling a coordinated Western shift.
Israel has condemned the decision, calling it a reward for terrorism.
Canada insists the recognition hinges on full compliance, emphasising support for a two-state solution rooted in peace and accountability.
