China Detains Lawmakers Linked to Defence Sector

Xinhua reports that three Chinese lawmakers with ties to the defence sector have been detained and placed under investigation.

Those held reportedly include two nuclear weapons researchers and the former head of China’s state owned aircraft and drone manufacturer.

The detentions point to a widening internal crackdown within China’s defence and technology establishment, fuelling speculation about corruption probes and power struggles at senior levels of the state and military industrial complex.
