Police in Manchester confirmed a controlled explosion was carried out in Crumpsall as part of the ongoing response to the synagogue attack earlier today.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud blast from within the police cordon, with bomb disposal experts at the scene.
Authorities have not yet clarified what device was neutralised, but the operation comes after a car-ramming and stabbing outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation left two people dead and several injured.
Counter-terror officers are continuing searches in the area, and the controlled detonation highlights ongoing security concerns surrounding the attack on the Jewish community during Yom Kippur.
