Iran’s military has declared that ships belonging to the United States, Israel and their allies in the Strait of Hormuz are now considered legitimate targets, according to AFP.
The warning comes as fighting in the region intensifies and maritime traffic through the strategic waterway has sharply declined.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor carrying roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, has already seen several vessels struck by projectiles in recent days amid the escalating conflict.
The threat raises fresh concerns for international shipping and global energy markets as tensions continue to rise.
