EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the bloc is on the verge of reaching a political agreement on its 18th sanctions package against Russia today.
The plan targets key sectors: energy, banking and military.
Measures include a ban on transactions involving Nord Stream pipelines and a floating oil price cap set about 15 percent below recent market averages.
With only one member holding out over the oil cap, negotiations are ongoing.
If approved, it will give the EU a stronger economic tool to curb Russia’s war efforts.
