European leaders are considering fresh sanctions against Russia if President Vladimir Putin refuses to take part in upcoming talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump.
Kyiv has warned that “the US and Russia will not impose terms the Ukrainian people will not accept,” underscoring that any agreement must respect Ukrainian sovereignty.
The potential sanctions would add to extensive economic measures already in place, reflecting Europe’s pressure on Moscow to engage in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
