Five Bodies Found in Search for Missing Mexican Musicians

Mexican authorities have discovered five bodies during the search for members of the norteña band Grupo Fugitivo, who went missing after a performance in Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

The musicians were last seen on May 25, 2025, after performing at a private event in the Riberas de Rancho Grande neighbourhood.

The band’s vehicle was later found abandoned in Reynosa’s La Cañada neighborhood, showing no signs of violence.

However, their musical equipment and a second vehicle remain missing.

Families of the missing musicians have organised protests, including a demonstration at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge, urging authorities to expedite the investigation.

The Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office has issued search bulletins for the five men, identified as Francisco Xavier Vázquez Osorio (20), Nemesio Antonio Durán Rodríguez (40), Livan Edyberto Solís de la Rosa (27), Víctor Manuel Garza Cervantes (21), and José Francisco Morales Martínez (23).

Tamaulipas is known for its history of cartel and gang-related violence, with several criminal groups vying for control of key smuggling routes into the United States.

The discovery of the bodies has raised concerns about the safety of musicians and performers in the region.

Authorities are working to identify the bodies and determine the circumstances surrounding the musicians’ disappearance and deaths.

The investigation is ongoing.
