Greenland’s deputy prime minister has firmly rejected any suggestion that the Arctic territory could be handed over to another country, calling such ideas “unacceptable,” according to AFP.
Speaking amid renewed international debate over Greenland’s strategic importance, the deputy PM stressed that decisions about the land and its future belong solely to the Greenlandic people.
The remarks come as major powers show growing interest in the Arctic for military positioning, natural resources, and new shipping routes.
Greenland’s leadership has repeatedly warned against external interference, reaffirming sovereignty and self determination while navigating its complex relationship with Denmark and global allies.
