German authorities have arrested a suspected Hamas operative accused of helping plan terrorist attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets across Europe.
The suspect, identified as Borhan El-K, is a Lebanese citizen living in Denmark.
He was detained by the Federal Criminal Police after crossing into Germany from the Czech Republic.
According to federal prosecutors, El-K is accused of being an active member of Hamas and procuring weapons in Germany intended for terrorist operations.
Investigators allege he obtained an automatic rifle, eight Glock pistols, and more than 600 rounds of ammunition, which were later transferred to a co-conspirator in Berlin.
The weapons were reportedly meant for attacks on Jewish institutions in Germany, continuing an operation uncovered in October when police arrested another suspect, Wael F. M., in Berlin.
Danish authorities simultaneously carried out searches in Copenhagen in connection with the case.
Officials say the arrests reveal a growing effort by Hamas to expand its network and operations within Europe, prompting heightened security around Jewish and Israeli sites across Germany and neighbouring countries.
