U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has responded to reports that an Iranian elementary school was struck during the conflict, insisting that U.S. forces do not intentionally target civilians.
“There’s only one entity in this conflict between us and Iran that never targets civilians. Literally never targets civilians,” Hegseth said.
He added that the U.S. military operates under a “very high fidelity process” when selecting targets.
Hegseth said the incident is under investigation and that officials will determine the facts before drawing conclusions.
“We don’t target civilians, Iran does. We will investigate, get to the truth, and share it when we have it,” he said.
