Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Waheed Allah Mohammad, 39, an Afghan immigrant previously convicted of stabbing his sister for what prosecutors said was punishment for being a “bad Muslim girl.”
Authorities say Mohammad was ordered deported in 2012 but remained in the United States pending removal.
ICE Director Todd M. Lyons said the arrest reflects the agency’s focus on serious offenders, stating, “When we say ICE is arresting the worst of the worst, this is exactly what we mean.”
Officials say deportation proceedings are now moving forward.
