Islamic Republic Warns of Live Firing Drill in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has issued a warning to ships at sea that it plans to conduct live firing drills next week in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, potentially affecting maritime traffic through the vital waterway, the Associated Press reports.

Tehran sent a notice to mariners and a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) indicating that live-fire military activity will take place as part of exercises near the strait, with restricted and hazardous conditions expected in the area.

The announcement comes amid rising regional tensions and increased US military activity in the Middle East.
