Israel Seeks Peace With Syria And Lebanon

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said Israel is exploring normalisation with Syria and Lebanon, as reported by Reuters today.

He emphasised any agreement would require Syria to formally recognise Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Sa’ar noted talks are underway, including direct meetings between officials from Israel and Syria, with a possible deal before the end of 2025.

While Israel annexed the Golan in 1981 and the US is the only country to recognise this move, the region remains internationally recognised as Syrian territory.

This marks a potential shift in Middle East diplomacy.
