Japan Restarts World’s Largest Nuclear Power Plant

Japan has restarted the world’s largest nuclear power station, the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, marking another step in its gradual return to nuclear energy.

The restart follows years of shutdowns, safety reviews, and political debate after the Fukushima disaster.

Japanese authorities say the move is aimed at boosting energy security, cutting fuel imports, and stabilising electricity supplies.

The decision remains controversial domestically, with critics warning about seismic risks and safety concerns, while the government argues modern safeguards make operations viable.
