Lebanon has expelled Iran’s ambassador, becoming the latest country to escalate diplomatic pressure on Tehran as the regional war widens.
Lebanese officials declared the envoy persona non grata and ordered him to leave, in a major move against Iranian influence in Beirut.
Elsewhere, Saudi Arabia has ordered Iran’s military attaché and four embassy staff to leave, while Qatar expelled Iranian military and security attachés after strikes on key energy facilities.
The latest Lebanese step marks a sharp further deterioration in Tehran’s regional standing.
