In Manchester’s Crumpsall neighbourhood, outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, police say a man drove into pedestrians and then stabbed a guard during Yom Kippur worship.
Greater Manchester Police responded within minutes and shot the suspected attacker, who is believed to be dead.
Authorities confirmed two victims were killed and three others seriously injured.
A bomb disposal team is on site investigating possible explosives found on the suspect.
The incident was declared a major incident under Operation Plato, and counter-terror protocols remain active.
No identity has been confirmed.
