Modi meets Putin, calls for peaceful resolution on Ukraine

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in China.

Modi described the talks as “excellent,” highlighting discussions on trade, space, security and cultural cooperation.

He said the two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the need for a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine.

Modi emphasised that the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” between India and Russia continues to serve as a vital pillar of stability in both the region and the wider international community.
