Poland Shuts Russian Consulate After Rail Bombing

Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has announced that the Russian consulate in Gdańsk will be shut down after an explosion damaged a key rail line used to supply Ukraine.

Sikorski said the blast amounted to “state terrorism” and claimed the attackers intended to cause loss of life.

Polish authorities believe two Ukrainian citizens acting on behalf of Moscow were behind the sabotage, which targeted one of the most important transport links for Ukrainian military and humanitarian shipments.

The closure of the consulate marks a sharp escalation in Warsaw’s response as tensions with Russia continue to deepen.
