Protests erupt in Iran over worsening water crisis

Residents of Kamyaran in western Iran marched to the local governor’s office carrying empty water containers in protest over severe and ongoing shortages.

Demonstrators voiced anger at the government’s failure to provide reliable access to drinking water, with many communities reporting little or no supply for extended periods.

Iran has faced recurring water crises in recent years, driven by drought, mismanagement, and infrastructure problems.

Local protests have become more frequent as shortages worsen, reflecting wider public frustration at what is seen as government neglect of essential services.

Authorities have not yet issued an official response.
