Russian President Vladimir Putin says Russia is developing new weapons systems that he claims will not be available to any other country for the foreseeable future.
Speaking to officials in Moscow, Putin described the projects as part of a wider push to secure long term military superiority and safeguard Russia’s strategic position.
He did not specify which systems are under development, but Russian media have previously hinted at advances in hypersonic technology, long range missiles and next generation air defence.
Western analysts caution that such statements are often aimed at deterrence and domestic prestige rather than providing concrete detail.
