Russia Says Islamic Republic Must Approve Any Uranium Transfer

Russia has said the removal or storage of Iran’s enriched uranium could be considered only with Tehran’s full consent, according to Kremlin officials.

Moscow described the idea as voluntary and long discussed, stressing that no decision can be imposed from outside.

Iran has rejected any current proposal to send its uranium abroad, with senior figures insisting the matter is solely Tehran’s decision.

The comments underline Iran’s determination to retain control over its nuclear programme and Russia’s effort to frame itself as a mediator rather than an enforcer amid ongoing international pressure.
