Starmer confirms Russian strike damaged British Council building in Kyiv

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has confirmed that Russian airstrikes on Kyiv last night damaged the British Council building in the city.

The attack targeted central areas of the Ukrainian capital, with several civilian sites affected.

Starmer condemned the strikes as further evidence of Moscow’s disregard for international law and pledged continued British support for Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials reported that air defences intercepted many missiles and drones, but some still struck infrastructure and cultural institutions, including the British Council facility.

Emergency crews are assessing the extent of the damage, and no casualties have yet been reported.
