Heavy fighting has erupted along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border after Taliban fighters attacked a Pakistani post at the Chaman–Spin Boldak crossing, a key trade route between the two countries.
Around 700 Taliban fighters reportedly reinforced positions in Helmand, Kandahar, and Paktiya before launching overnight assaults.
Pakistan responded with artillery, drones, and airstrikes, eventually reclaiming the post after intense clashes.
The fighting spread to Shurko and Zazi Maidan, with Pakistan destroying several Taliban outposts and vehicles.
Islamabad says up to 80 Taliban fighters were killed, while seven Pakistani soldiers also died in the confrontation.
