President Donald Trump has signed an executive order pledging sweeping new U.S. security guarantees to Qatar.
The move is described as part of efforts to end the Gaza war and a response to an Israeli strike in Doha.
The order states that any armed attack on Qatar’s territory, sovereignty, or vital infrastructure will be considered a threat to U.S. peace and security.
It also commits Washington to take all lawful and appropriate measures, including diplomatic, economic, and if necessary military action, to defend Qatar and restore stability.
The decision significantly strengthens Qatar’s security ties with the United States.
