The United States plans to cut the number of troops stationed along Europe’s eastern flank, according to Reuters.
While details of the withdrawal remain undisclosed, officials confirmed that around 1,000 American soldiers will remain in Romania as part of NATO’s defensive posture.
The decision marks a shift in U.S. military deployment strategy amid growing discussions within NATO over burden-sharing and long-term presence in Eastern Europe.
Washington insists the move will not weaken regional security, but some allies express concern that any reduction could embolden Russia as tensions persist along the alliance’s eastern borders.
