UAE warns Israel that West Bank annexation is a ‘red line’

A senior United Arab Emirates official has warned that any Israeli annexation of the West Bank would cross a critical “red line” for Abu Dhabi.

Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE’s Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, said such a move would undermine the spirit of the Abraham Accords, which normalised relations between the UAE and Israel in 2020, and would damage prospects for regional integration.

She reaffirmed the UAE’s support for a two-state solution and urged Israel to suspend settlement expansion that would divide the West Bank and separate East Jerusalem.

The warning marks the UAE’s strongest criticism since the Gaza war began.
